How to clean golf woods

Are there any golfers left who still use wooden clubs? The procedures listed below can be used whether you are learning how to clean metal or wooden golf clubs.

Considering that you are using a tee,  your woods don’t accumulate as much debris, and dirt since the grooves on them are not as deep as those on your irons. Even so, you should ensure they are clean. Fairway woods, drivers, and hybrids are called “woods” in this context.

Cleaning woods differs slightly from cleaning irons because the club heads shouldn’t ever be submerged in water to preserve their polish and luster.

Begin the cleaning by briefly submerging the club head in water, extracting it, wiping it down with a moist towel, and then thoroughly drying it with a dry cloth.

Use the soft-bristled brush to brush the grooves on the clubface quickly. After that, look over the clubface for any potential debris still present in the grooves.

After cleaning, quickly dry the club head and shaft, then put them back in your bag.

Cleaning golf club grips

Many golfers forget to clean their grips when they clean their golf clubs, but doing so is a crucial step that shouldn’t be skipped. Golf club grips can gather dirt and deteriorate with time, making it more challenging to acquire a firm hold on your club. So pay attention to your grips.

Here’s how to properly clean your golf club grips:

  • Fill a  bucket or sink with warm, soapy water.
  • Then, scrub the club grip thoroughly with a cleaning brush dipped in the water.

It’s acceptable to clean the grip rather vigorously; in fact, a somewhat rough texture improves grip levels. Just be careful not to rip the grip apart.

Clean off the grip with water before patting it dry with a towel. Even after you’ve wiped the grips off with a towel, your grips may still be damp depending on the kind of grips you have and how wet you made them throughout the cleaning procedure. Therefore, it’s wise to ensure you give your grips enough time to dry before your next round and avoid cleaning them soon before you start playing.

Golf club grips only need to be cleaned a few times yearly, not as frequently as the clubs.

Tips to take excellent care of your golf clubs

Keep your clubs in good condition by adhering to a maintenance schedule.

Store your clubs properly

To prevent the deterioration of the glues on the grip, keep the clubs indoors and avoid storing them in the trunk of your vehicle, especially in places where it is quite hot.

Your equipment will be protected from the weather and have a longer lifespan with proper storage. Your clubs should be kept in a cool, dry location. The best way to store them is in protective gear, such as the appropriate bag. Golf bags are handy for keeping your clubs at home and taking them on the course.

These golf bags include anti-elemental technology that shields them from heat, humidity, and moisture. Additionally, golf bags provide you the option to store your clubs upright to prevent damage due to falling.

Clean your club heads between plays

Some dirt collects in the grooves from hitting the ball on and off the fairway. After each shot, it is advised to clean the clubface with a moist cloth. This procedure stops dirt from collecting in the grooves.

While you wait to make your next shot, you can remove any noticeable debris from the grooves with a cleaning brush.

Inspect your clubs regularly

You need to keep your equipment in peak shape if you want to play your best golf. Regularly check your shaft, grips, and club head for dents or cracks on the clubface and shaft damage.

These regular inspections will enable you to take care of any damage quickly and fix it before it worsens and requires replacement.

Use golf towel

Grips and clubfaces with a strengthened eyehole and sophisticated wicking fibers designed specifically for golf should be cleaned with a towel.

Keep in mind that your towel has to be washed frequently to remove the dirt wiped off your club head.

Headcovers

Use head covers to shield your woods, driver, and hybrids from harm so you can get the most use out of them.

Due to their lower risk of damage, irons may benefit from head covers to a slightly lesser extent.

Putters will gain more benefits since the face of the putter should be shielded to avoid any damage.

Conclusion

Golfing equipment can easily become dirty, so keeping your clubs clean is important.

Fortunately, doing so is not a difficult task. If you are thorough, cleaning your golf club could only take a few minutes.

It can be considerably simpler to keep your golf clubs appearing and functioning better for longer if you develop a regular cleaning routine. And it’s best to clean your clubs more frequently.
